Pharma Test Management Report – in Times of COVID-19

Unfortunately the COVID-19 pandemic now has many of us and our globalized society more tightly in its grip than ever. While the situation around the globe is different from country to country, in general the numbers of infections are rising and many governments around the world are reacting with anti-measures and either partial or complete lockdowns. The German government for example has just announced a partial lockdown for the month of November, however businesses like ours are allowed to continue their operations. We are saddened by every loss and wish everybody the strength to get through these trying times.

For our company we have taken organizational steps, like for example implementing a work from home policy where this is possible and measures regarding distancing where this is not possible. We are doing our best to ensure the safety and health of our employees, while still continuing to be operational as a company. So far I am happy to say that we mostly managed to do this and especially delivery delays have remained to be exceptions only. Wherever we have not been able to meet our anticipated delivery dates, where our delivery times have been longer than you were used to or otherwise might not have been able to provide the service in the time or manner that you expect from us and are used to – we are first of all sorry. I can ensure you that we are doing everything that is possible from our end to minimize any negative effects to our customers and distributors. It is of the utmost importance to us to be a reliable partner for you, especially during these unreliable times.

While Pharma Test is a very internationalized company with over 100 partners and subsidiaries around the world and a big share of export business, our manufacturing processes and supply chains are fairly localized and concentrated on Germany. We greatly value our long-term cooperations with our distributors worldwide. The same is true for our development partners and suppliers locally. Only because of these strong networks we built over the last 40 years, we have been able to provide our services and products mostly uninterrupted during this time – and will continue to do so.

This year is a difficult year for many of us, both on a professional and on a private level. We greatly miss meeting you in person, either during travels or at events like exhibitions – but we are still here for you! Besides e-Mail and telephone you can also contact us for online video meetings in Microsoft Teams or whatever solution you prefer. We are also taking steps to be available to our existing and potential customers digitally, either during focused seminars like the Virtual Conference Explain My Research: Drug Delivery & Precision Medicine in May 2020 or bigger events like analytica virtual in October 2020. Furthermore our sales and marketing team is producing new video content like the lecture “Managing Regulatory Compliance and Other Challenges for Tablet Dissolution Testing – a Global Perspective” from analytica virtual available on the Pharma Test YouTube channel. You can look forward to more content like this and as always we appreciate your feedback!

Of course we are also working on improving and updating our products behind the scenes. We did not cut back on these activities in 2020 but rather enforced them. You could already see some of the results on our two major product launches from the past twelve months, the new 14-station tablet dissolution tester PTWS 1420 and the new automated tablet hardness tester WHT 4 with integrated PC and software. Before the end of this year we will be able to add the new PTG-S5 powder flow analyzer to this list, which includes a new user interface with color touch screen, user management, result database and audit trail. We are excited about these new products and our upcoming products based on these new technologies.

The world is continuing to move to a more digital space and while we will always value a personal approach, we are taking steps to ensure our company, our products and our services are ready to meet the demands of both today and tomorrow.
