Pharma Test Announces Improved PT-DDS4 Media Preparation and Degassing System
Pharma Test Announces Improved PT-DDS4 Media Preparation and Degassing System
The optimized PT-DDS4 features a new tank design with a sloped bottom instead of a flat one to simplify the emptying of the device for cleaning without leaving any remaining liquid in the tank. For this reason as well, the pipe outlet is now longer und curved. The new tank can still hold enough medium for at least two 12-position dissolution testing instruments. The PT-DDS4 now also includes bigger and more sturdy wheels to move the instrument from one working space to the next – no matter what the floor condition might be.

All improvements for the PT-DDS4 Media Preparation and Degassing System
- Bigger, sturdier wheels for easy maneuvering: The new PT-DDS4 is now based on bigger, sturdier wheels which make it easier to move the instrument around from one working space to another – no matter what the floor condition may be. Like in the previous PT-DDS4 model the newer version also comes with brakes.
- New tank design: The new PT-DDS4 features a new tank design with a sloping instead of a flat bottom to simplify emptying the device for cleaning. Leaving no residue behind that would be difficult to remove. This change came through customer feedback who had difficulties to remove all of the medium out of the tank. The tank holds enough medium for at least two 12-position dissolution testers or enough for 24 vessels with one de-aeration cycle.
- Optimized pipe outlet: The pipe outlet is now longer and curved. This change was also done so you can easily drain the complete media from the vessel without residues.
Why is Media Degassing so Important for a Successful Tablet Dissolution Test?
Media degassing or deaeration prevents the formation of bubbles due to dissolved air in the dissolution medium on the dosage form which can affect the dissolution test results.1 Media deaeration is required by the FDA (United States Food and Drug Administration) when dosage forms are sensitive to air bubbles. It has been shown that degassing systems working with the vacuum pump give the highest benefits.1
The PT-DDS4 is your reliable and handy lab companion for that. The media preparation instrument features standard gravimetric dosing for precise filling volumes at any working temperature – which is the preferred measurement by the USP for the Procedure for Mechanical Calibration and Performance Verification: “A more accurate and temperature independent measure of the medium volume is through weight”.
